Alluding to the topic “Value Sourcing @ CLAAS – Strategic Best Cost Country Sourcing: How can we manage sustainable cost distribution?”, Michael Potthast, head of purchasing of Product Related Materials at CLAAS Corporate Purchasing, presents the interaction between both strategic areas Global Sourcing and Supplier Integration as an integral element of CLAAS Value Sourcing.
The high significance of each of these two value leverage is already strengthen by their connection in the CLAAS Product Development Process (CPDP). The involvement of Supplier Integration activities from the concept phase of new products on, offers the opportunity to find out cost drivers in a target price analysis early and to work with them according to their effectiveness with the levers of value analysis.
In addition, it is possible to determine detailed costs based on TCO with the help of value stream analysis in the whole Supply Chain – from material purchasing of the supplier till consumers usage.
The simulation with cost components of the Best Cost Country Sourcing is offering now a systematic way of making strategic supplier selection, the available exchange margin extends here from in-house production to the use of the global procurement market.
The high interest to install this strategic approach in their own companies was shown in a following question time and further discussions with participants. A great importance for the company’s success is predicted by the sustainability which is created by Best Cost Country Sourcing.
