By increasing its share in the previous joint venture with an Indian large combine company to 100%, the CLAAS Group vastly expanded its commitment on the Asiatic continent. Alongside CLAAS India Ltd., CLAAS runs a combine factory as its own subsidiary company in Faridabad, not far from the capital Delhi.
With this commitment to include the as yet mainly unmechanised Indian market for agricultural harvesting machinery, CLAAS hopes to profit from the enormous growth potential. Since around 90% of worldwide rice production is cultivated in Asiatic countries, a manufacturing base in India, a country that can cover the entire Asiatic demand for rice, is a great advantage for CLAAS.
At present, CLAAS India Limited builds around 350 combines a year. The functionality and equipment of these machines is adapted for the particular conditions of the Indian market. The export share in other Asiatic markets is currently 20%. Since 1992, the production facilities have been building the CROP TIGER combine with a choice of tracking or wheel running gear.
