180 Purchasers from the CLAAS Group came together in Bad Oeynhausen

Purchasers' Day of the CLAAS Group

At the end of November, purchasing staff from all locations came together at the GOP Kaiserpalais in Bad Oeynhausen for the "Purchasers’ Day" of the CLAAS Group. Rüdiger Mohr, VP Corporate Purchasing of the CLAAS Group, and Hans Lampert, Member of the CLAAS Executive Board, opened the two-day event and welcomed the 180 international participants.

Hans Lampert talked about the latest business developments and provided a look ahead to 2018. Rüdiger Mohr reviewed at the past year of successful purchasing activities in which, despite increasing material prices, savings were achieved in all areas. For the new 2018 financial year, Rüdiger Mohr gave an insight into the production plans and associated growth: "Alongside cost, the availability of parts will be an important topic in the coming months."

During the further course of the event, purchasing staff from the CLAAS Group presented current projects. There was for example a live demonstration of the new "Supplier Portal", which is a new software programme which enables structured digital communication with our suppliers, including the relevant requirements of Quality and Logistics.

The prizes for "Purchaser of the Year 2017" were awarded in the evening.

On the second day, various presentations were given on projects in Purchasing. They involved themes such as the purchasing process (presented by Tobias Effey, Corporate Quality, and Jürjen Schürer, Head of Purchasing CIT), the escalation model in the event of quality problems with suppliers (Roland Pollmeyer, Head of Corporate Quality), obsolescence management electronics (Christian Armagnac, Lead Buyer Electronics) and digital product engineering and data management (Nico Michels, Head of Digital Product Engineering and Olga Bystrova, Master Data Management). The latter – the topic of high-quality product data – initiated a particularly lively discussion, as it is important for problem-free requests for quotations from suppliers.

To round off the event, Lead Buyers and purchasing staff presented best practices from throughout the CLAAS Group. Daniel Tuquet, the new Head of the Eastern Europe Sourcing Team (EAST), previously UCF, introduced a project for overcoming a supply-side monopoly situation in the area of large gearboxes.
